Dates: ASAP until 28.02.22 
Hours: 8.30am - 5.00pm Wednesday - Friday
Pay rate: £10.41 per hour
Location: Chelmsford Campus
 
 
Job Purpose: Follow established standards, processes, procedures and guidance in order to deliver a comprehensive range of digital print and copy services to students, staff and members of the general public, ensuring an excellent customer experience for all while also meeting our legal, financial and confidentiality requirements.
 
Duties, Experience & Requirements: IT literate, email, able to use straight forward software packages, able
to lift up to 15kg, some print experience would be desirable but not essential as training can be provided.
Main duties will be maintaining fleet printers and completing simple print work for customers coming into ARU print shop
 
Principal Accountabilities: As a Print Technician, you will use the skills and abilities outlined in this Job Description and accompanying Person Specification to:
  1. Follow our print fulfilment processes, by:
    1. Undertaking urgent print-production tasks for local customers, using local digital print equipment.
    2. Completing print-finishing tasks including binding, booklet-making and folding.
  2. Redirect non-urgent print requests to our principal digital print production centre, located on Chelmsford campus.

    Ensure that our local student printing facilities remain available and in good working order by:

    1. Monitoring individual devices, using the software tools provided.
    2. Replenishing paper stocks for individual devices, following a regular refresh schedule.
    3. Delivering and fitting appropriate supplies, as required.
    4. Reporting operational malfunctions and hardware failures to our Print Services Manager as they occur.
  3. Provide support for users of our high-quality, wide-format print service.
  4. Maintain an operational understanding of all software and hardware appropriate to printing processes, including methods of electronic document submission.
  5. Maintain media stocks, inks and finishing supplies suitable for use with local hardware and appropriate to customer requirements.
  6. Resolve routine work and equipment issues, referring more complex incidents to senior colleagues as appropriate.
  7. Liaise with third-party suppliers and support personnel as required, meeting service levels, maintaining service quality and keeping a complete record of activity at all times.
  8. Advise customers on copyright limitations and print entitlement.
  9. Assist customers by advising on the appropriate methods and materials available to achieve a desired print product, as well as supplying advance quotations for any costs incurred.
  10. Carry out daily and weekly reconciliation of the income generated by our service provision, forwarding details to senior colleagues in a timely manner for checking and processing.
  11. Organise and prioritise daily tasks to meet requirements of time, cost and quality, under supervision of senior colleagues.
  12. Follow all University-wide and local Service policies and procedures at all times.
  13. Comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation requirements in all working practices, maintaining confidentiality, integrity, availability, accuracy, currency and security of information as appropriate, while taking personal responsibility for all personal and sensitive data within your own working environment.
  14. Promote a positive and professional image of our University.
  15. Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required, commensurate with your grade.
