Our client, an established company with two separate business strands – event support and make-up – are seeking to recruit two graduate interns to overhaul the marketing for each.

The context

Started in 1993 the owners are keen to develop their techniques to update and improve their offering, staying in touch with current trends and in turn, surviving the current covid induced climate.  Whilst they have a wealth of varied experience inhouse, they are very open to change and advice.

Due to Covid 19 and the enforced lockdown, the company effectively shut down with no event support work and few makeup sales.  Since lockdown eased, it has been necessary to diversify their offering to remain successful.  This has resulted in some steep learning curves and exploring new opportunities to develop business.  There is evident need for a new approach, no longer able to rely on word of mouth they must invest in a stringent marketing strategy to reflect current circumstances.

The briefs

SWOT analysis of the businesses has identified huge development opportunities in marketing specifically their online presence i.e. websites and social media.  With the need to expand on the limited markets they currently operate in and to spread risk going forward, establish thorough research into new areas to promote products and services:

- Demonstrate best practice in telling the company story, promoting successes/good news stories etc. and utilise this to attract new business
- Utilise the analytical data provided by the current e commerce website to support growth

EVENT SUPPORT BUSINESS

- Overhaul current website – primary objective, to make it less of an inventory of equipment
- Identify diversified target customers/service areas e.g. technical support, small event hire
- Explore the specific needs of the target customers to ensure products and services are matched to meet these
