Job Description

DATE: 18th January to 31st July 2021
PAY: £9.50 per hour
TIMES: Variable

We are looking for Undergraduate students who are passionate about their course, employability and ARU. If you are loving your course, and also getting involved in other activities to enhance your job prospects and stand out from the crowd, we want to hear from you.

We need activators who are willing to share their employability experiences at ARU and encourage other students to get involved in boosting employability, finding work experience opportunities, internships and placements. Sharing will be via face to face or virtual interactions like 1-2-1 meetings, group projects and jobs fairs, as well as web-based such as blogging, vlogging and social media posts.

Tasks include:

  • Promoting key virtual and face to face events and initiatives that support the development of lifelong career management skills
  • Talking to students in your faculty about employability, placements and the support available
  • Answering questions and generating content for ARU social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat) around employability and placements
  • Recording short and engaging videos on given employability and placement topics
  • Blogging, photo-blogging and vlogging
  • Other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis will be identified based on your faculty’s need

If you are enthusiastic, friendly and a great communicator with a positive attitude, particularly if you have work experience, e.g. from a summer internship or placement, we would love to hear from you.

Training and development:

If you are successfully selected to be an Activator, you’ll receive Activator training which will prepare you for the ‘Dos and ‘Don’ts’, as well the key resources and initiatives you will be using and promoting such as the Careers Centre. You will also be supported to complete the Anglia Ruskin Employability Programme in order that you can share your experience with students and encourage participation.

Pay and conditions:

Please note whilst some aspects of the role, including the free training/developments elements are unpaid other elements will be paid e.g. attending Job Fairs and providing specific support at activities.

The paid elements of the role are paid at the Student Ambassador rate of £9.50 p/hour. You’ll submit a timesheet each week depending on the time you have dedicated to the role (up to 8 hours per month).

The role is available throughout the academic year on a rolling one month contract basis and may be renewed year on year based on your performance.
