Pay rate:
£9.50ph
Location: Whittlesey, Peterborough office base plus various event sites
Hours:
Full time - 37hrs p/wk (typically 9am-5pm but with flexibility to suit business/event needs
Term:
8 weeks with potential of extension for the right candidate
Start date:
7th June 2021

Our client, an events and festival staff contractor, is seeking to recruit an Events Services Intern to assist with various events which have been on hold due to the covid pandemic.

The business provides staff and services to over 150 events and festivals throughout the UK and parts of Europe including Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Latitude, Electric Picnic and many more. Services provided include traffic management, waste management, stewarding, event cleaning services and site crew.

The role:

To assist the Operations and Administration teams in preparation and delivery of services at events and festivals, including:

  • Basic operational and administrative tasks such as preparation and collating of staff lists and timesheets, risk assessments, inventory checks, monitoring and managing applications on our in-house applications portal (DCSS PAAM), ensuring applicants have the correct credentials etc. 
  • Assist the Administration Team and Office Manager with recruitment and staffing of events and festivals, maintaining connections with applicants and progressing candidates to the appropriate stage of employment while sustaining a consistent log of all communication. 
  • Support the administration team during busy periods by providing excellent customer service in dealing with telephone and electronic queries from our clients, suppliers and staff, ensuring that queries are resolved efficiently and effectively. 
  • Support, implement and maintain general office and housekeeping responsibilities. 
  • Carry out duties on-site at events and festivals as required, potentially working on site at one event/festival during the internship as discussed and agreed upon with the post holder. 
  • Collating of sensitive and vital information in preparation for an event or festival, while onsite and post-event, including familiarisation with the project pack, packing lists, suppliers, schedules and assembling timesheets.
  • Helping to maintain the Company events calendar and diary 
  • Helping to maintain the Company presence online via social media with regards to all recruitment activities 
  • To perform basic assistance with stock management and take inventory of equipment and stock as required including assisting with packing/unpacking of equipment and uniform for events 
  • Assisting with maintaining the staffing database and log of all application activity 

Person Spec:  

  • Graduate or soon to graduate from ARU
  • Knowledge and interest in the live events/festival industry 
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure 
  • Proficient computer and internet user including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook 
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team 
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload 
  • Trustworthy personality with a positive attitude towards problem-solving and willingness to go the extra mile when necessary in order to ensure successful completion of a task 
  • Able to travel to/from the Whittlesey office
Desirable:
  • Willing to work on-site at live events as required, potentially camping on-site and working away from home for extended periods including weekends 
  • Full clean driving licence 
  • Experience of dealing with a broad spectrum of customers and staff; excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Experience using recruitment software and social networks for recruiting
