Independent Living Project - Support Worker

We are an independent family-friendly care project providing 2-to-1 care for a young man in his 30s who enjoys living in his own especially adapted bungalow.  We pride ourselves on ensuring his lifestyle and care are of the highest quality, and this extends to how we look after the staff who support him.  In particular we emphasise the importance of good nutrition and integration into the local community. Located in a quiet village to the south of Cambridge, the project is easily accessible by car with free on-site parking.

We are looking for individuals who:
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the project’s values and understand the uniqueness of the service user and his lifestyle.
  • Are naturally friendly, accommodating and collaborative.
  • Have at least 12 months’ care experience with an individual with similar disabilities.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence – to drive the client’s own vehicle.
  • Hold an NVQ in Health and Social Care level 2 or 3.
  • Are able to work a 37.5 hour week on a shift basis and 24 hours on-call availability
  • Participate in Covid-19 testing programmes, are vaccinated for Covid-19 and offer exclusive service.
What your job would entail
  • All care and social activities associated with supporting a disabled wheelchair user.
  • Performing basic domestic duties (cooking, cleaning, gardening etc).
  • Accompanying the service user to outside activities (including college, swimming, cinema, music therapy, physio etc.)
  • Attending staff meetings and briefings.
  • Undertaking regular training and e-learning events to keep your knowledge and skills up to scratch.
