ARU Summer Internship – Website Developer Intern

 

Pay rate: £9.50ph

Location: Remote with occasional team meetings

Hours: 7 hours per day, flexibility on timing

Term: 8-12 weeks with possibility of extension for the right candidate

Start date: June 2021

Our client, specialists in building operational management software for growing businesses, are currently seeking to recruit a Website Developer with possibility for development into mobile app development for the right candidate.

The role

Solely responsible for the build of a new website for a restaurant chain launching in September, the successful candidate will be working with a design agency who will provide designs for the overall layout of the site alongside style guides. The candidate will then be responsible for transforming this into a fully operational website.

The website must be written to modern HTML5 standards as well as following responsive design for desktop, tablet and phone size devices.  Duties include:

  • Liaising with design agency to get full specifications for design.
  • Setting up project structure and maintaining repository in Github.
  • Deciding on appropriate architecture to implement designs (e.g. CMS vs. html)
  • Presenting proposed implementation to senior development team
  • Implementing designs based upon proposed architecture
  • Integration with third party systems such as…
    • Menu service (RESTful API)
    • Google Analytics
  • Reviewing and adapting proposed designs based upon feedback from client.

This role would best suit a current undergraduate student.

Person spec

  • Current student from a relevant degree e.g. Computer Science
  • Strong understanding of HTML5 with demonstrable abilities in implementing high quality websites.
  • Knowledge of HTML frameworks and CMS systems would be beneficial as well as experience of working with firebase and github. 
  • An enthusiastic self-starter who remains motivated to work even when located remotely
  • Able to work autonomously with initiative and to multi task
  • Organised and efficient at prioritising own workload.
