Job Description

The purpose of this role is to support students and colleagues using media equipment in classrooms and media facilities. To provide front line maintenance of media equipment and facilities. To operate the technical resources of Media Services.
 
Dates: ASAP until 17th December 2021
Times: 37 hrs per week, Mon- Fri 08.00-17.00
Pay rate: £11.84 per hour
Location: Cambridge campus
 

Principal Accountabilities:

1.        Assist in the effective operation of the media equipment loan service. Issue and keep records of loan equipment using agreed procedures. Maintain an Asset Database.

2.        Provide support and advise students and colleagues in the use of the media production facilities operated by IT Services.

3.       Set up, maintain, and operate the media production facilities provided by IT Services for staff and students.

4.       Troubleshoot and resolve technical call-out and other problems with media equipment and its use in our University and off site liaising, as appropriate, with other teams in IT Services.

5.       Perform the scheduled connection, configuration and setup of media equipment to appropriate specifications in media facilities and classrooms.

6.       Ensure that media licensing and copyright regulations are adhered to by students and colleagues. Comply with Data Protection requirements in all working practices, and maintain confidentiality, as necessary.

7.       Provide first and second line maintenance of media equipment and repair when necessary.

8.       Maintain the general security of media equipment and facilities across the campus and issued to students and colleagues, including security marking and recording of equipment.

9.       Use the agreed control and tracking systems to log work requests received and record their plan and progress to completion.

10.     Deliver scheduled work to deadlines.

11.     Fulfil Health and Safety regulations and procedures as appropriate to the role.

12.     Contribute to university and team activities by attending regular meetings, and taking part in evaluation and dissemination activities

13.     Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required, commensurate with your grade.

Person Specification

Demonstrable experience of working in a professional/technical environment in the field of Media and AV equipment
Experience of using professional level video and audio production equipment and stills cameras
Ability to work unsupervised
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work to deadlines
Committed to high levels of customer service
