Job Description

Start Date:Thursday 18 August

End Date: Friday 16 September

Hours: Approximately 40 hours a week split over 7 days between 08:00 – 20:00 (will  include weekends and evenings)

Rate:  £9.90 per hr

Dealing with:         

  • Current & new students
  • Parents/families & guardians
  • University Residential Service staff
  • Other University staff including those in the Clearing centre
  • Landlords/ agents
  • Visitors and Contractors

Key areas of work:

Staff a house hunting desk and work with students holding offers to study at ARU to secure accommodation

  • Be the first contact for students looking to secure accommodation in the private sector
  • Provide house hunting information in person, over the phone and by email
  • Demonstrate how to use StudentPad (house hunting database)
  • Liaise with landlords and agents regarding property availability
  • Log students who are looking to secure private sector accommodation and keep in regular contact with them
  • Monitor social media channels and respond to questions/comments

When not at the house hunting desk, provide administrative support to the Residential Service reception, including

  • Answering phones
  • Responding to emails and face-to-face queries
  • Issuing keys

Welcome Events:

  • Assist with marketing of the ‘Welcome’ events for new students and attend events if required

General:

  • To assist the efficient and effective running of the house hunting season and the Residential Service office
  • To undertake such other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time.

Skills:

We are looking for the following skills and experience for this role:

  • Experience of securing accommodation in the private rented sector
  • Customer Service experience
  • Experience of working with international students
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Confidence to take initiative
  • Knowledge of the local area and student housing would be an advantage
