Job Title: Student Domestic Abuse Consultants
Job Role: To have oversight and contribute to ARU Policy and practice in the support and prevention of domestic abuse. To promote awareness of domestic abuse and the resources of internal and external support.
Start Date: January 2025
Duration: On going
Hours: Part time during teaching weeks - hours will vary on a weekly basis.
Pay Rate: £12.60 p/h
Location: ARU Peterborough
Duties:
- To contribute to the ongoing development of our existing DA policy. This may include attending conferences or being a representative at events days.
- Assist with raising awareness of our DA policy for staff and students.
- Collaborate with course reps and Personal Development Tutors to support promotion of DA training at a faculty/course/school level.
- Adhere to all our confidentiality guidelines and privacy notice (GDPR) and adhere to all protocols and procedures.
- Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may be reasonably required.
Requirements - Essential:
- Current ARU Student
- Empathy/Kindness
- A desire to tackle domestic abuse at ARU
- Resilience
- Ability to problem solve
- An understanding of domestic abuse myths and the impacts they have on victims/survivors
- Willing to attend CPD
- Able to work and collaborate with colleagues in a team
- Able to be patient, empathetic and understanding without passing judgement
- Willingness to read, understand and consult on university policy and procedures
Requirements - Desirable:
- Domestic Abuse Sector paid or voluntary experience
- Communication skills
- Creative ways of communicating ARUs message to students
- Experience in organising and participating in group activities or community events
- Public speaking / presenting to groups of people
