ARU Spring Internship Scheme 2025:  Events Assistant Intern

Pay rate: £12.60 per hour
Location:  Shenfield, Essex (1 minute walk from Shenfield train station)
Hours: 20 hours per week
Term: 10 weeks
Start date: Early March 2025

Recently winning Team of The Year at Conference & Events Awards, we are seeking a passionate and motivated Events Assistant to join our growing team, supporting the planning and activation of our events and our marketing strategy and contributing to the overall success of The Assembly.

The role
Events and Operations 
  • Support with operational preparation and delivery of HairCon, the revolutionary event for the professional hair and barbering industry 
  • Partner/sponsor liaison and overseeing partner tracker tool 
  • Ticket promotion activations, trackers and analysis support 
  • Ad hoc administrative support 
Marketing 
  • Support traditional Marketing strategy and Advertising placements 
  • Contribute to Digital and Social campaigns. Role will include training on Canva, key social handles and insights platforms 
  • Web support and content uploads with training on Wordpress 
  • Production of promotional materials and content 
  • Email creation with MailChimp/Email provider & CRM training 
  • Industry and consumer insights mapping 
  • Social and digital insights tracking with training across multiple professional platforms 
Person spec
  • Current ARU undergraduate student from a relevant degree course e.g Event Management, Marketing, Business Management
  • A genuine love of live events and a can-do attitude! 
  • A hunger to learn! The role includes lots of fantastic hands-on learning and training to prepare you for industry 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software tools 
  • Knowledge of Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator or similar creative platforms advantageous.
  • Must be able to the office location in Shenfield, Essex.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the internship the successful intern should be able to demonstrate:
  1. Sound understanding and execution of Traditional and Digital Marketing from posting social media content using Hootsuite & Meta, to supporting the development of Email marketing campaigns, Direct Mailers and Website updates 
  2. Demonstrate experience of supporting the Events strategy and the collation of insights from Consumer profiling, tracking Revenue, PR and coverage reporting 
  3. Operational experience preparing for Event activations, liaising with partners and supporting stage content and schedules
