Job Summary:
Schools and Colleges Student Ambassadors are paid to support activities and events in the Schools and Colleges Team.
You will work with young people ages 10-18 at a range of events, and of course members of the public, to ignite their ambitions and inspire them to consider university as a choice for them.
We are looking for enthusiastic and responsible students to join the scheme. You’ll need to be enthusiastic and willing to grow your skills, alongside demonstrating responsibility so we can entrust you to act as the face of ARU.
You will attend a training and assessment day, which will involve a selection process to determine your suitability for the role.
Specific duties of the role
- Supporting with on-campus taster days for prospective students
- Leading campus tours
- Supporting with Widening Access key projects
- Working open & applicant days delivering campus tours
- Telling your story of applying to and studying at ARU
- Return to your old school/college to deliver a talk about progressing to ARU (eligible schools only)
- Visiting schools and colleges
- Working Careers Fairs or national UCAS fairs
- Faculty specific events related to your subject
- Other ad-hoc opportunities
We welcome applications from anybody at any level of study, so long as you are a student at ARU but particularly if you are an undergraduate student.
This year, we are especially interested in Student Ambassadors who went to local schools/colleges in the following regions;
- Essex
- Norfolk
- Suffolk
- Cambridgeshire (including Peterborough)
- Bedfordshire
- London
- Kent
- Leicestershire
- Lincolnshire
We also encourage students with the following protected characteristics to apply as our Widening Access Team run events for students from these backgrounds and would love to utilise SAs own lived experience during these events;
- Care Experienced or Care Leaver
- From a Military family
- SEND whether physical or neurodiverse
- From the Gypsy, Roma, Traveller, Showman or Boater community
How to apply:
Step 1: Ensure you are fully registered with ARU Temps
New students: please create a profile with ARU Temps AND complete your right to work check.
We will need to see:
- Passport UK & Ireland students
- Visa Share Code - EU or International student
Step 2: You MUST apply using the application form here:

Step 3: The Schools and Colleges Engagement team will review your application, and if you are successful, you will be invited to register for a training and selection day.
Step 4: Attend the training and selection day to qualify for the role
Step 5: After successful completion and confirmation of your training, you can apply for job opportunities, develop your skills, and start earning!
To Note:
- You do not need to re-apply if you have already completed training with the Schools and Colleges Engagement Team during your time at ARU.
- This training is unpaid, but you will be paid for your shifts once you have successfully completed training
- Applications made to ARU Temps will not be considered

Taking part in this training does not prevent you from continuing to work as a General Ambassador, Faculty Ambassador, or Digital Ambassador through ARU Temps.

This session is designed specifically for those who wish to work with the Schools and Colleges Team in roles that require additional, role-specific training.
