Job Title: Equine Yard Worker
Job Brief: Under the guidance of the Equine Resource Manager, we are looking for vibrant individuals on a Temp basis to assist in the operation of the busy ARU Writtle Equine Resource Unit, with a specific focus on horse care and maintaining our top-class equestrian facilities.
Location: ARU Writtle campus
Shifts: 8hr shifts on Saturdays & Sundays - 8am to 5pm - you will be added to a rota to provide adequate weekend cover over the summer.
Rate of pay: £12ph
Duties: The role comprises of, whilst working as part of a small team:
- General yard duties and horse husbandry to include feeding, haying, mucking out, poo picking, checking for injuries and wound management
- Preparing horses for student practical sessions
- Exercising horses from the ground and liaising with owners and clients
- Ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the yard.
- Ensure the highest standards of Equine Care
Requirements:
- Confident around horses
- Work in accordance with BHS standards
- Team player
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative without close supervision
