Job Description

Internship Title: Events APP Coordinator
 
Start Date: 5th May
 
Duration: 12 weeks

Hours: 20hrs per week
 
Location: Cambridge or Chelmsford & remote
 
Pay Rate: £12.60ph
 

Are you passionate about inclusivity and social mobility? Do you want to make a real impact on university events? We’re looking for a dynamic student to help ensure our events are accessible and engaging for students from all economic backgrounds! 🎓

Your Role Will Involve:

Reviewing University Events Through an APP (Access and Participation Plan) Lens

  • Assess events from a social mobility perspective to ensure inclusivity.

  • Evaluate themes, topics, and activities to ensure they resonate with students from diverse economic backgrounds.

  • Recommend adjustments to event programming to make them more engaging for economically disadvantaged students.

Proposing Strategies to Boost Attendance Among Underrepresented Groups

  • Identify barriers to participation (e.g., financial constraints, lack of awareness, perceived relevance).

  • Develop targeted outreach campaigns to increase engagement.

  • Suggest incentives such as free entry or transportation to make events more accessible.

Tracking and Analysing Engagement Data

  • Implement registration and attendance tracking systems.

  • Use surveys and feedback forms to collect insights on student engagement.

  • Analyse data to identify trends and recommend improvements in event inclusivity.

Planning and Delivering Two Impactful APP-Themed Events

  • We Are Global Women: Organize an event celebrating women’s achievements, with keynote speakers, panel discussions, and workshops focused on gender equality and social mobility.

  • One Additional Event: Collaborate on another impactful event that champions inclusivity and accessibility.

Reviewing Event Advertising for Inclusivity

  • Assess the effectiveness of current advertising platforms (social media, university website, flyers, etc.).

  • Review the language, imagery, and messaging to ensure they are inclusive and engaging.

  • Provide recommendations to enhance advertising strategies for better reach.
