Job Title: General Assistant - RS Accommodation (Cambridge)
Start Date: 23rd June 2025
End Date: 6th October 2025
Hours: 20 hours per week - there is flexibility with the timings
Pay Rate: £13.46 per hour
Location: Cambridge campus
Job Purpose: To assist in ensuring the safety, security and well-being of the residents and residential buildings by visiting ARU accommodation houses weekly.
Accountabilities:
- Carry out and test fire alarms to ensure they are fully operational and comply with our legal obligations. Carry out flushing and running of taps in empty rooms and properties and record this information (Training will be provided on how to run a tap and flush a toilet).
- To note and report any fire alarm faults directly both to the facilities team and the HMO team on the day of inspection and testing.
- Carry out the reading and the recording of utility meter reads submitting to the HMO team.
- Assist with semester fire drills as directed by the Housing Management team.
- Check the communal areas of the property for maintenance and cleanliness
- Deliver and pick up post.
- Put up posters or signage on behalf of the Residential Services
- Comply with Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR requirements in all working practices maintaining confidentiality, integrity, availability, accuracy, currency and security of information as appropriate. Take personal responsibility for all personal data within own working environment.
- Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required, commensurate with your grade.
