This internship is ideal for a final year student who has gained sufficient academic insight into the curriculum and is undertaking the spring block period, which aligns well with the project’s needs.
Working collaboratively with academic teams, student experience leads and colleagues across three campuses, you will play a key role in auditing curriculum content, supporting student voice initiatives, and helping shape meaningful improvements that reduce award gaps and enhance continuation rates. This is an excellent opportunity for a student passionate about decolonising education, inclusive practice, and real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities
Audit nursing modules using the decolonising curriculum audit tool to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for enhancement.
Identify relevant resources to support academics and students in understanding and addressing award gaps.
Collaborate with the Student Experience Team to support listening events for under represented student groups across Chelmsford, Cambridge, and Peterborough.
Prepare and present initial findings and progress reports in school or team meetings.
Contribute to strategic planning, including the development of actionable solutions and co creation of inclusive curriculum action plans.
Design student led interventions aimed at improving continuation, closing award gaps, and removing barriers to academic success.
Plan activities and workshops that prepare students for real world learning and professional environments.
Support the school’s mission of transforming lives through innovative, inclusive, and entrepreneurial education.

Essential Skills & Qualities
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks independently.
Competent IT skills, including use of digital tools for research and reporting.
Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to collect, interpret, and summarise data, including the use of an audit tool.
Capable of conducting basic literature and resource searches relating to decolonisation, inclusivity, and student success.

Ideal Candidate
A current Year 3 undergraduate student, preferably with experience in healthcare, social sciences, education, or related fields.
Someone passionate about inclusive education, equity, and improving outcomes for under-represented students.
A proactive, reflective, and collaborative team member.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this internship, the student will be able to demonstrate:
1. Competence in conducting a curriculum audit and presenting evidence-based findings to stakeholders.
2. Ability to co create meaningful resources informed by the lived experiences of under represented student groups.
3. Enhanced organisational, communication, and analytical skills, applicable to both academic study and future employment.
