Job Description

Start Date: 3rd June 2026

Proposed End Date: 13th September 2026

Hours: up to 35hrs per week. Can be covering up to seven days a week, Monday to Sunday. 9am-5pm, staggered starts and finishing times may sometimes be required. Some weekend work. 
 
Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour

Job Purpose: To be a key member of the summer front of house staff. Working closely with the Residential Service to ensure the smooth running of the summer comerical business and the preparation for departures and arrivals. 

To assist housing officers and lead a team of General Assistants overseeing commercial summer business, summer students in accommodation and preparing residences for arrivals.

To carry out tasks, such as light cleaning, making/stripping beds, hanging curtains, rooms checks, assisting with deliveries, moving furniture, all for preparation of rooms and communal areas as allocated by HMOS on a regular basis ensuring customer satisfaction and that all accommodation is ready for new arrivals over summer and September.  

Some live in accommodation available for evening emergency out of hours support of Residential Assistant role. 

Requirements:

  • Able to complete manual handing and lifting
  • Good, clear written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Team player
  • Understanding of customer service

Person appointed must be available from Wednesday 3rd June 2026 to Sunday 13th September 2026

Additional to this role there is a requirement if you live on campus to partake in duty and out of hours rota * as a Residential Assistant (RA). A minimum of 2 shifts per week must be carried out covering out of office hours in the accommodation, assisting with lock outs, fire alarms and emergency issues/ maintenance.

*Hours worked, are according to the rota which are compiled according to the needs of the business, for this reason there is limited leave and may be granted subject to service needs, but 2 days per week will be included on the rota.
