Join the ARU Employability Service as a Careers Ambassador
Are you passionate about helping fellow students succeed? Looking to gain valuable paid work experience while developing your professional skills?
We are recruiting enthusiastic and motivated students to join our team of Careers Ambassadors across ARU’s Cambridge, Chelmsford, Peterborough and Writtle campuses.
As a Careers Ambassador, you will play an important role in promoting the support, resources, events and opportunities available through the ARU Employability Service. You will help students build their confidence, develop employability skills and prepare for their future careers.
About the Role
Careers Ambassadors are student representatives who work closely with the Employability Service team. After completing employability-focused training, you will:
- Provide friendly, front-line support to students accessing Employability services, including CV and careers advice.
- Promote Employability resources, events, opportunities and services to fellow students.
- Share your own experiences and encourage engagement with employability activities.
- Support students with career development, placements, further study and graduate opportunities.
- Represent the student voice and contribute ideas to improve Employability initiatives.
- Work with Employability staff to support campaigns, events and projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
As a Careers Ambassador, you will:
- Act as a welcoming first point of contact for students engaging with the Employability Service.
- Support the delivery of front-line services, including drop-ins, information stands and student enquiries.
- Promote careers, placements, ARU Temps and graduate success opportunities.
- Support employability events, workshops, careers fairs and campaigns across campus.
- Engage with students through faculties, societies and wider networks to raise awareness of available support.
- Attend Careers Ambassador meetings, training sessions and team briefings.
- Create engaging content for social media, webpages and promotional materials.
- Gather student feedback and share insights to help improve services.
- Support ad hoc projects and activities based on service priorities.
