Title: Recreation Assistant Cambridge
Start Date: Monday 7th September
End Date: End of March 2027
Hours: Various hours between 07:15 - 20:15 on Mon-Fri, and 10:00 - 16:00 on Sat-Sun
Location: Cambridge Campus - Mildmay Sports Centre
Pay: £13.45 p/h
 
Team ARU are needing a Recreation Assistant to support the team!
 
Job Description: Provide a professional and welcoming front-line service for students, staff, and community users of the Sports Centre. The role supports the day-to-day operation of the facility through customer service, reception administration, financial processing, facility monitoring, equipment setup, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organised environment while contributing to an excellent customer experience.
 
Responsibilities will include: 
  • Deal with enquiries from Student, ARU Staff and Local Community Sports Hall Users in a helpful and courteous manner, providing clear and accurate information and actively cross selling our activities to customers.
  • Complete reception duties such as processing and taking payments for bookings and memberships using the pre-defined processes.
  • Handle forms of electronic payment responsibly adhering to defined procedures, including cashing up at the end of the day.
  • Complete routine administrative tasks as directed by the Gym & Sports Centre Manager such as preparing student promotional packs, updating notice boards, filling leaflet holders, monitoring usage and collating feedback comments.
  • Set up and set-down small pieces of Sports equipment such as Badminton Nets, Football goals, Basketball Hoops, Netball Hoops, Volleyball Nets and Table Tennis Tables.
  • Monitor access to the facilities to ensure that they are only being used by customers for the purposes that have been granted and at the times which have been permitted.
  • Undertake some minor cleaning and maintenance duties as directed by the Gym & Sports Centre Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records in relation to finance, Health and Safety and participation in activities.
  • Contribute towards the broader work of the Estates and Facilities Service to continuously improve the student experience and to contribute towards wider University strategic objectives.
  • Comply with Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR requirements in all working practices maintaining confidentiality, integrity, availability, accuracy, currency and security of information as appropriate. Take personal responsibility for all personal data within own working environment.
  • To comply with Safeguarding responsibilities as detailed in the policy and procedure.
  • Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required, commensurate with your grade.
