ARU Higher Education Exam Invigilator

Casual Opportunities | Chelmsford & Writtle Campuses
£13.45 per hour (£18.00 per hour for Reader/Scribe roles)

About the Role

As an Exam Invigilator, you will support the delivery of university examinations across our Chelmsford and Writtle campuses. You will be responsible for maintaining examination conditions, safeguarding academic integrity, and providing a reassuring presence for students during what can be a stressful time. 

This flexible casual role is ideal for individuals seeking occasional work, particularly during our busy examination periods in December, April/May, and July/August.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing examination venues and materials prior to exams.
  • Checking candidate identification and attendance records.
  • Delivering examination instructions clearly and confidently.
  • Monitoring examination rooms to ensure regulations are followed.
  • Supporting students appropriately while maintaining examination standards.
  • Recording incidents and reporting concerns accurately.
  • Managing examination materials securely.
  • Collecting and checking completed scripts at the end of examinations.

Chelmsford Campus

  • Located approximately 10 minutes' walk from Chelmsford city centre and railway station.
  • Public park-and-ride facilities available.
  • Please note that onsite parking is not available. 

Writtle Campus

  • Located two miles west of Chelmsford city centre.
  • Free onsite parking available.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance and completion of paid safeguarding training are required prior to working at Writtle.
