Rate of pay; £15.35 per hour

We are looking for a research assistant to join the Wildlife Change Lab at Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge Wildlife Change in the Arctic - ARU.  This role will be a temporary role.

The work will support the Arctic Council Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Program report “Societal impacts of Climate Change.”

The research assistant will conduct systematic mapping (identifying, categorizing, and analysing existing literature of particular research studies). This will focus on impacts of species moving northward into the Arctic for both people and nature.

Key responsibilities:

This role will involve:

  • Screening papers to include in a database and database creation and management.
  • Reviewing the content of papers and coding them to a database
  • As the project evolves there may be additional tasks such as conducting interviews with key researchers, and project participants in research related to the database.
  • Coordination, administrative and organisational tasks such as planning and holding meetings related to the research.
  • Additional tasks to support the project as they arise.
  • Comply with Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR requirements in all working practices maintaining confidentiality, integrity, availability, accuracy, currency, and security of information as appropriate. Take personal responsibility for all personal data within own working environment.
 
Person Specification 
 
Essential
  • Ecology or Social Science graduate 
  • Ability to read and interpret social and natural science papers
  • Ability to manage and maintain a database or use database software
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other researchers 
  • Interest in climate change impacts
Desirable
  • Experience with systemic review or systematic mapping
  • Experience with case study development
  • Understanding of research related to Indigenous peoples in the Arctic and the importance of just processes and Indigenous knowledge

Support will be given to help the assistant acquire new skills to support the role, this role would be suitable for an ecology or social science graduate.

The work will be based in Cambridge and the assistant should be able to work in Cambridge at ARU. The research assistant will join the Wildlife Change lab situated on the Cambridge campus and is expected to attend lab meetings and participate in lab activities.
