Job Description

Internship Title:  Underrepresentation Research Intern
 
Start Date: 2nd June
 
Duration: 8 weeks

Hours: 37 hrs per week (full time)
 
Location: Remote
 
Pay Rate: £12.60ph
 

Are you passionate about research, diversity, and inclusion in higher education? We’re looking for a motivated intern to support an exciting research project investigating the underrepresentation of minority ethnic students in animal-related courses. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop research skills while contributing to meaningful change!

Your Role Will Involve:

Project Documentation & Monitoring

  • Assist in documenting project plans and monitoring performance.

  • Update plans and communicate progress effectively.

Conducting a Literature Review

  • Research underrepresentation of minority ethnic students in animal-related courses.

  • Identify key factors influencing course selection.

  • Summarise findings to inform survey design and research approach.

Survey Design & Development 

  • Assist in designing a comprehensive survey evaluating student perceptions and challenges.

  • Ensure survey questions are clear, relevant, and aligned with research objectives.

Ethics Application Support 

  • Assist in preparing an ethics application for approval by the university’s research ethics committee

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills ✍️

  • Basic knowledge of literature review and research methods 📚

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) 💻

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 🤝

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills 📅

  • Enthusiasm for diversity and inclusion in higher education 🌍

  • Experience in conducting surveys (desirable but not required) 📊
