Job Description

Internship Title: Social Media Intern
 
Start Date: 19th May
 
Duration: 8 weeks

Hours: 37 hrs per week (Full time)
 
Location: Hybrid - Chelmsford Campus
 
Pay Rate: £12.60ph
 
Are you passionate about digital media, content creation, and social media trends? Join our Communications team and help shape the university's online presence while contributing to exciting campaigns and projects! This internship offers the chance to develop hands-on experience in content creation, social media strategy, and campaign reporting.
 

Your Role Will Involve:

Content Creation & Social Media Strategy

  • Support the Communications team in delivering both long and short-term projects.

  • Contribute creative ideas for content creation across multiple platforms.

  • Visit campus to capture engaging content, as and when needed.

Copywriting & Scheduling

  • Assist in copywriting and scheduling content using Hootsuite.

  • Create engaging posts and schedule them effectively across platforms.

Research & Trend Monitoring

  • Conduct research on platform trends, particularly focused on short-form video (Reels, TikTok).

  • Stay up-to-date with current social media trends to keep the content fresh and engaging.

Campaign Reporting & Development

  • Produce social media campaign reports to track performance and success.

  • Create a mini campaign that includes one form of media (e.g., video) to showcasing:

    • Care leavers & care-experienced students

    • Disability support

    • Race Equality commitment

    • Or any other area of interest related to widening participation!

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent copywriting skills

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok).

  • Creative and confident in creating digital content (especially short videos).

  • Experience with research skills (both quantitative and qualitative).

  • Basic graphic design knowledge (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express).

  • Video editing skills for short-form content (Reels, TikTok, CapCut).

  • A keen eye for visuals and photography skills. 📸

  • A written summary of your learning outcomes at the end of the internship.
