We are looking to expand our pool of invigilators in Peterborough.
Job Role
Invigilators are responsible for the conduct of examinations, they are the official people present during the examination who take care of students, provide support if needed and watch to prevent cheating. They are present at every examination to ensure that examinations are held in accordance with the current Anglia Ruskin University Academic Regulations.
Dates
We primarily need Invigilators for our next examination sessions in April and May and for the below dates currently:
Monday 27th April, 2pm - 3:30pm & 2pm - 5:55pm
Tuesday 5th May, 10am - 4pm
Rate of Pay
The rate of pay is £13.45 per hour and you will receive pay for the length of the exam plus a setting up/clearing up time before and after.

Job Description
Applicants should be confident with groups of people. The size of exams varies from one person to 150 and invigilators should be able to cover all sizes of group. Two or more Invigilators are allocated to each exam with more than 25 students, with as many as five Invigilators presiding over exams with 150 students.
We also arrange examinations for students with individual requirements. These exams are usually no larger than five people and are run on a more informal basis. The invigilators for these exams should be sympathetic to the needs of the student and yet ensure that the regulations are not being compromised.
Invigilators are required to complete various reports and registers. These are kept as the official record of attendance and any events during the exam. As such these need to be completed accurately and legibly.
The role of Invigilator would suit someone who enjoys mixing with people, has the confidence to enforce the regulations if necessary and deal effectively and promptly with any problems that present themselves during the examination.
The main responsibilities of an invigilator are to:
- Invigilate exams in accordance with the rules and guidelines laid out in the Invigilators Handbook.
- Be sympathetic to the needs of the students
- Ensure the University regulations are not compromised
- Deal effectively and promptly with any problems that may arise during exams
- Remain vigilant at all times during the exams
- Maintain security of exam papers and scripts
- Be familiar with the University fire & evacuation procedures
Training
Full training is provided to new invigilators and a handbook detailing Anglia Ruskin University’s policy and regulations for examinations is given to all invigilators.
