Hours: Part time – 20 hours per week

Japeto is a fast-growing AI and software company helping businesses harness the power of conversational AI. We build and manage intelligent chatbots – known as JChat – that help our clients streamline customer communication, automate admin, and deliver better user experiences. Our clients range from healthcare providers and charities to professional services firms.

We are a small, ambitious team working at the cutting edge of large language model (LLM) technology. Joining us means getting hands-on experience with tools and techniques that are shaping the future of business. We offer a collaborative, supportive environment where interns are treated as genuine contributors, not just helpers.

The role
We are looking for a proactive and organised intern to join our team and take ownership of the day-to-day management of our AI chatbot platform. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with live AI products, helping ensure they are performing well, staying up to date, and delivering value to our clients.

The intern will support our chatbot operations and content work, playing a key role in quality assurance, reporting, and content development. This role sits at the intersection of technology, communication, and project management – perfect for a student keen to develop practical, cross-functional skills. Duties include:
  • Chatbot testing – regularly test chatbot conversations across client accounts to identify errors, gaps, or poor responses
  • Message history review – analyse conversation logs to spot trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement
  • Reporting – create clear, professional reports summarising chatbot performance, usage stats, and recommendations for clients
  • Content writing – write and update chatbot scripts, FAQs, and response content to improve accuracy and tone
  • Chatbot updates – implement approved changes to chatbot flows and content within our platform
  • General admin support – assist with scheduling, documentation, and internal communications as needed
  • General QA Testing for apps and websites – our team all helps with doing testing on our work and looking for bugs and errors
Person spec
  • A current ARU undergraduate student, ideally studying Business, Marketing, Computer Science, AI, Communications, or a related field
  • Confident and fluent written communicator – able to write clearly and professionally for different audiences
  • Computer savvy – comfortable learning new software tools and navigating digital platforms quickly
  • Organised and detail-oriented – able to spot errors and follow processes consistently
  • Curious about AI and technology – no prior AI experience required, but a genuine interest is essential
  • Able to work independently and manage your own time across a part-time schedule
  • Happy to undertake a DBS check.
  • Able to travel to the office base in Harlow, Essex
Learning outcomes
At the end of the internship the successful intern should be able to demonstrate:
  1. An understanding of how large language models (LLMs) and AI chatbots work in a commercial setting, including how to evaluate and improve their performance
  2. Practical experience in professional written communication, reporting, and content creation within a technology business
  3. Competency in software project management and day-to-day office operations, including how to collaborate effectively in a small team environment
How to apply: Please click on the apply button and ensure your CV is up to date and showcases your relevant skills and experience for the role.

Important notice: When making your application, feel free to use AI to enhance your CV and cover letter, but make sure to include REAL-LIFE EXAMPLES that clearly demonstrate your skills, experience, and knowledge.
