Location:  Chelmsford Campus – The Old Factory Gym

Hours:  10 hours per week (flexible working pattern)

Rate of Pay:  £13.45 per hour

Contract: Temporary

Proposed start date: Immediate

Proposed end date: 31st July 2026

Details and Job Description

We are seeking a creative and motivated Social Media Officer to join Team ARU, providing marketing support to The Old Factory Gym on our Chelmsford Campus. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of social media activity for a vibrant campus facility and play a key role in increasing engagement and awareness of gym services and activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain The Old Factory Gym’s social media accounts.
  • Create engaging, informative, and accessible content to promote the gym and its services.
  • Monitor social media channels and respond promptly to queries and comments.
  • Assist the gym team with the design and delivery of marketing campaigns.
  • Support the maintenance of the Team ARU website.
  • Write content for the student intranet (MyARU), staff bulletins, and website news stories.
  • Develop an understanding of target audiences and use feedback and analytics to inform content decisions.
  • Ensure all digital content meets ARU accessibility guidelines.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Experience using and managing social media platforms.
  • Experience managing online communities.
  • Strong written communication skills for a range of audiences.
  • Experience planning and delivering marketing campaigns.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Office administration skills.
  • Experience working in a marketing environment.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools and reporting user insights.
