Location: Writtle Campus
Department: Faculty of Science & Engineering (FSE / AAES)
Pay: £16.19 per hour
Hours: 5 hours per week (flexible working pattern, day to be agreed)
Contract Duration: 15 June 2026 or soon after – 31 July 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Research Assistant to support a short-term environmental research project based at our Writtle campus. This is an excellent opportunity for a current student with an interest in ecology, environmental science, or horticulture to gain hands-on field experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plant and establish flower plots in June
  • Conduct weekly pollinator surveys
  • Maintain and monitor flower plots throughout the project period
  • Record and report findings accurately

About You

You will be:

  • A current student (essential)
  • Interested in ecology, biodiversity, or plant science
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a practical, hands-on role
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
  • Flexible with working hours (within agreed weekly pattern)

Additional Information

  • DBS check is required
