Job Description

Internship Title: Data Analysis and Insights Officer
 
Start Date: ASAP
 
Duration: 10 weeks

Hours: 20hrs per week
 
Location: Cambridge or Chelmsford & remote
 
Pay Rate: £12.60ph
 
Duties: Drawing on your strong statistical analysis and interpretation skills, this role will support improvements in student outcomes, by identifying trends and correlations and translating these into accessible insights to inform decision making. Key accountabilities include:
  1. Access, collate and cleanse data, identifying gaps or shortfalls that may impact on data quality and working with colleagues to resolve any discrepancies.
  2. Utilize a range of methods, including statistical analysis, data visualisation and potentially machine learning to analyse data on a modular and aggregate level, drawing on substantial technical knowledge and experience to identify key insights, trends and patterns.
  3. Breakdown data to a granular level, analysing data sets against a range of characteristics to better understand the impact of various factors on student outcomes.
  4. Undertake year on year analysis, comparing data from previous deliveries to better understand trends and patterns.
  5. Interpret analysis, identifying insights to inform strategy and decision making.
  6. Present findings, including reports, visualisations and recommendations as appropriate, communicating clearly and accessibly across a range of mediums.
  7. Maintain clear, meticulous and auditable records of all activity.
Requirements:
  • ARU UG student
  • Knowledge and experience of statistical analysis, data analysis, interpretation, visualisation and presentation,
  • Extensive knowledge of excel.
  • Strong analytical mindset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Clear, meticulous and auditable record keeping.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex data insights to diverse audiences.
  • Proactive and able to work independently, and also able to work collaboratively to explore and refine insights and areas requiring further investigation.
Learning Outcomes: At the end of the internship the student will be able to demonstrate:
  • Application of data analysis, visualisation and presentation skills in a real world situation
  • Working proactively and independently, with support from mentor and team
  • Working collaboratively to explore, refine and develop findings
  • Making a meaningful and valued contribution to support better student outcomes
Project Deliverables:
  • Data sets analysed in line with requirements, identifying trends, patterns and correlations across a wide range of factors.
  • Findings translated into actionable insights to improve student outcomes
  • Report produced detailing insights and highlighting areas requiring attention to inform decision making and future strategy
