Great Eastern Run - Wayfinder & Runner Information Representative

Pay Rate: £13.45ph
Location: Peterborough
Date: Sunday 11th October 2026
Hours: 8am-2pm
Application Deadline: Sunday 20th September

The Great Eastern Run is seeking enthusiastic and friendly individuals to join the event team as Wayfinder & Runner Information Representatives. This role is ideal for anyone who enjoys helping people, providing excellent customer service and contributing to a positive event experience. As one of the first people runners meet on arrival, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring participants can easily find their way to the Event Village and Start Line.

The role
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain event experience, develop your customer service and communication skills and play an important role in helping thousands of runners enjoy a successful event day. Duties include:
  • Welcome runners and provide a positive first impression of the event.
  • Direct runners from designated car parks and arrival points to the Event Village and Start Area.
  • Provide clear and accurate directions to runners and spectators.
  • Answer common event-related questions using briefing materials provided.
  • Signpost more complex enquiries to the appropriate event team members.
  • Assist with managing runner flow and reducing congestion at arrival points.
  • Monitor your allocated area and report any issues to the event team.
  • Maintain a professional, approachable and helpful manner throughout your shift.
  • Remain at your designated location unless otherwise instructed.
Support is available throughout from the event team with full briefing before event start, covering:
  • Event layout and key locations.
  • Directions to the Event Village and Start Line.
  • Frequently asked questions.
  • Important event information.
  • Key contacts and escalation procedures.
Person spec
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Friendly, approachable and confident when engaging with members of the public.
  • Able to provide clear and simple instructions.
  • Remains calm and professional during busy periods.
  • Reliable, punctual and enthusiastic.
  • Enjoys helping people and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Previous customer service, event, hospitality or volunteer experience.
  • Experience working in a public-facing environment.
