Great Eastern Run - Baggage Representative

Pay Rate: £13.45ph
Location: Peterborough
Date: Sunday 11th October 2026
Hours: 8am-2pm
Application Deadline: Sunday 20th September

The Great Eastern Run is looking for organised and reliable individuals to join the event team as Baggage Representatives. This role is perfect for people who enjoy working as part of a team, are detail-oriented and can remain calm and professional in a busy environment. You will help ensure runners can safely leave their belongings before the race and collect them efficiently once they have finished, contributing to a smooth and positive event experience.

The role
This role offers a great opportunity to gain event experience, develop teamwork and organisational skills and contribute directly to the success of one of the region's leading running events. Your attention to detail will help ensure runners have confidence that their belongings are handled safely and efficiently.
  • Welcome runners to the baggage drop area.
  • Receive and check baggage in line with event procedures.
  • Ensure baggage is correctly identified and stored in the appropriate location.
  • Maintain an organised and efficient baggage area.
  • Handle personal belongings carefully and professionally.
  • Respond to runner enquiries regarding the baggage process.
  • Assist with baggage collection following the race.
  • Help locate baggage when required.
  • Report missing, incorrectly labelled or problematic baggage to the Team Leader.
  • Maintain a safe, tidy and organised working environment.
  • Follow event processes and instructions at all times.
Support is available throughout from the event team with full briefing before event start, covering:
  • Baggage drop and collection procedures.
  • Baggage identification and storage processes.
  • Collection procedures following the race.
  • Processes for missing or unclaimed baggage.
  • Health and safety requirements.
  • Key event contacts and escalation routes.
Person spec
  • Organised, reliable and punctual.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates a positive and professional approach to customer service.
  • Physically able to handle and move participant baggage when required.
  • Remains calm when dealing with queries and high-volume periods.
  • Previous experience in events, logistics, hospitality, retail or customer service.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
